First dreads/set ever :) *massive picture post*
So, I've done quite a bit of these... It was my first time but I spent an entire night before I ordered any hair watching tutorials and reading things about how to do this xD So, I think I did pretty good. I'm re-sealing some purple-y ones i made right now, but after that I'll be taking more pictures with my good camera to show you the quality and such. I ordered hair from ikickshins, and I got impatient while waiting so I bought some black and reddish hair from a local store xD I'll put those first , so you can see what my first ones looked like. The black ones weren't great and I've already gone back over them, so i'll just show the red ones and the transitionals I made. Any critique is welcome, but I think they're pretty f-ing awesome. (we're not supposed to cuss, right?)
First transitional type thingys i made
Red ones, first 'set' of one color I did.
My black ones ^_^ very proud of them
Pink/blue/white. I did them separately, I just have 'em all chillin' on one slice of fabric.
Some of the purple/white ones I've got done
The transitional/candy cane/splash/whatever ones I did =D I looooooove them.
Here they are all together(before I resealed a few) ^_^
So, what do you think? =D I use a flat iron that is sucky as fuuuuu-crap and I don't use a towel or anything, I just spray the dreads and twist it while I have the iron on it. I've been going over them again and cutting off the little peices, because that was bothering me. xD Uhh... Hmm. They're all single ended, I can't figure out how to do DEs.
Any opinions, lemme know I'll have better pictures very soon.

From what I can see in your pictures, you're doing pretty good, maybe backcomb them a bit more?

I haven't made many sets myself, but your dreads look pretty good for a first try. Maybe you can backcomb them a bit more and seal the ends better? Also, if you backcomb them more, you can taper them more and then the ends can be thinner and easier to seal. Hope that helps.

Agreed with more backcombing... and tapering them. It's make a huge difference. They'll stay together for a lot longer. If you were down to the end of the hair, that means you could backcomb more, then it leaves more room to taper it as Battlesheep said.
Be careful not using a towel while sealing with a flat iron. It'll burn the hair pretty easily, depending on how hot your flat iron gets of course.
But for your first set.. they look pretty good. Nice color choices. Keep at it!
As for doing the DE's, there are a bunch of tutorials on here to help ya
http://hairextensionsforum.com/viewtopi ... 62&t=10404 --- this one's for sealing with an actual iron, but it should still help.

>.< I forgot to take HD pictures of them, but right now I'm installing them ^_^ I started yesterday at 10pm, and kept going until 6 am xD slept until 5pmish (my sleeping schedule is way off) and I've been doing them since I woke up (it's 10:50 pm right now). I'm almost finished D: I'm going to have to make more black ones, I think, for the top. Hopefully not, we'll see. I will be taking pictures of the install once i'm done ^_^ I love how the dreads are all different lengths and colors and all that kind of stuff =DD I'm very excited to get them FINISHED xD

oh wow they're so lovely i thought at first that they would be a bit much with all the colors, but they look so good on you, they really make your eyes seem bluer. loving the fringe! that red suits you so well it is somewhat hard to tell in the pictures you took, but is this a full install?

Aww, thank you ^_^ the fringe is actually a really hot pink, i think its the light xD
it's a full install except for my bangs next time I install, i think i'm going to put my bangs in them too, so i can just put in the clip in bangs and not have to worry about washing my real ones D:
