Possible Brighton Meet this summer?

Post by Rhaeniel » Fri Feb 20, 2009 10:40 am

Okay, just creating a new thread for this as we've been discussing it in the London meet thread...

Just in the discussion stages at the moment, but personally I'd only really be able to make a weekend meet, as we'd have to drive down and stop over for the night with the little one.

So, yes.. who'd be up for this and when's best for everyone?

i'll have a little look online to see what events/ free parties are hapening (unless any locals have ideas) and maybe we could go from there :D

Ah, that's cool - at least I won't be the only one with a baby in tow!
Same here with the evening.. we'd be fine out in the day but this one'll still be very little by the summer, so he'd probably get cranky if we're out too long. We'll just have to see how it goes.
A beach party/picnic would be ideal, as he'd probably be able to snooze a bit easier if we're sat still for a while.

I'm wondering if this summer will be as crap as last.. we may have to decide the date much closer to the time due to weather. A wet weekend in Brighton doesn't sound like much fun :/

Definately. Me & Mum think we are in for a very hot summer; meaning after Sonisphere I'll be out for the count

Cool :D

Might be an idea to have a few different dates in mind and then decide closer to the time?

it's easy peasy for me to get to brighton so, as long as it doesn't clash with the wedding, I'll be able to make it :D

Eep! :?
You can still book stuff tho, you don't pay until closer the time.. well, with most places anyway. Those big expensive places probably make you pay loads in advance, but the place where we got married were much more laid-back about when we paid.. I think it was in the week leading up to the wedding - so we had plenty of time to cancel if we needed to.

Oh, don't forget you do have to give notice though.. you have to go to your local council office and do the formal giving notice thing, which has to be done within a certain amount of time before the wedding (I can't remember how many weeks or months it was). You have to pay for that, but I don't remember it being very expensive.. and it's a legal requirement before you're allowed to marry, so you can't really get out of that one.

yeah i know we have to do that - it's £60
we'd also sort our date then too - we were supposed to do it in december but had to cancel as we just didn't have the money - it's the first thing we're going to do as we're getting married at the registry office we give notice at

oh yeah, on sat nights there is an alternative night at the Pav Tav, and I think there is a metal night on Fridays at the Engine rooms :)

Been to the sat night one once before; the flyers said Industrial, Alt Dance etc but there wasn't much of that going on!! However that might be because the people who were dancing that night were requesting blondie and stuff :P

Me and the OH will defo be there if someone can either provide a floor for us to sleep on (ie we can bring covers)
Or recommend a good but cheap hotel/b+b
We have given up on the festivals so far unless Reading wacks out a supreme lineup.. so spare UK holiday currently...
Download now apart from Manson, Slipknot, Korn and Prodigy= the LOSE!.. we have been 3 out of 4 already.. we hoped for NIN but reacon that is a loss now as we saw them Reading 07+Brixton 07 and Trent gets elusive for the circuit for a few years after major tours :(
So we = Brighton FTW

**edit - and if Rhae and all want to go, DV too.. i have a 5/6 seater (with car seat) at my disposal so we could all share car etc and save petrol i can offer that.. otherwise it will be me and as much stuff for people as i can fit in the mean machine if people need to go by coach/train -- it is on offer anyway i know new babies are precious and i am not sure i could trust anyone else any my baby**
But if anyone Notts/Derby/Stoke/Birmingham/Leicester/Northampton or down Reading/Basingtoke/Newbury etc want to go.. me and Mr Navaro are happy to play Taxi :) Anyone else in a 30 mile radious of those locations feel free to PM me.. i can pick up

I'm getting excited about this already..

Thanks for the offer Syba, but we'd be going in our car cos we'll probably need a lot more stuff than usual, plus it means we can disappear easily at any point if things get too much for baby.. we don't want to be relying on lifts in that situation.. plus, we'd take up far too much room.. and Andy likes to feel in control, so I think he'd prefer to drive, really.
We could definitely go as a convoy tho - follow each other down the motorway :D
