Inspiration thread!
One of our members suggested this thread and I think it is a great idea
What hair inspires you?
What inspires you to make a particualr style of hair? (could be books, films, clothes, accessories)
If you are linking to a picture you must state who has made the hair/item . If using a photo you may need permission.
Do not show off the hair you have made since being 'inspired' (that should be in the gallery) just things that have inspired you to be creative- hair realted creativity only!

Re: Inspiration thread!
to start you off...not terrribly exciting, but obviously I am inspired by the wonderful Siouxie Sioux and the pain of goth backcombing when I started making my banshee falls and wigs several years ago!

As someone who loves opulent hair styles, I was more than thrilled to have someone on my LJ friend's list post a link to this most fabulous creation:
Even better, there are details to how it was created, which can be found here.
Definitely going to try this out with plastic some time this year.

When I get stuck on what colours to use, I look to nature
Images such as these really inspire me (some of these are quite large):

Re: Inspiration thread!
Yep, mold on bricks.
fantastic stuff! oh and fungus too.
What inspires you to make a particualr style of hair? I find that the varying textures found on bricks and mold/fungus has seriously inspired my desire to create loose wool/yarn falls before; I've tried to replicate the look of a young bird perched on a moldy/mossy tree branch with lovely rough bark before in yarns/wool falls. The color combos are a plus too. I don't run around finding inspiration in the styles/hairdos of famous folk. *shrugs* I guess I don't pay that much attention to them, so I get my hair inspiration else where.
I hope that was a bit more clearly on topic for this thread. Sorry

Re: Inspiration thread!
vixensingsblack- the purple-green look on those bricks is my theme for everything
no pics due to computer death but at the moment i'm looking at some of my dad's late best friend's paintings, he was an artist named lieuwe gerritse (can't find anything on google) who painted women using vivid pastel colours, you can really see the emotion
edit-
i took a pic of an old pic on a poster for a 1998 gallery exhibit:

Re: Inspiration thread!
I tend to be inspired by food. If you look at the file names for pictures of my pre-made dreads, they're oftentimes named after whatever food I was thinking about when I made them.
(a lot of my natural sets come out of cravings for various flavors of ice cream!)

Re: Inspiration thread!
Kimono fabric always inspires me. I bought a dress from eBay that has so many colours in it because it's made from kimono fabric - turquoise, pink, gold, white... lots of different shades. Really inspirational to look at, and I have so many ideas just from the fabric of that dress, not necessarily restricted to hair ideas!

Re: Inspiration thread!
I get inspiration from everything from Cosplay to Kandi making XD
Sometimes I just see something or a thought just pops into my head while I am doing something and I am like "I MUST DO THAT!"
Like my Install pattern was inspired by shoe lacing patterns XD

Re: Inspiration thread!
Sorry if this is a bit more than you wanna know, but I was inspired while I was sitting on the toilet bowl. I looked at the towels hanging on the hooks and they were off white, light green with bleached hand prints that turned yellow, and dark green. I thought they looked great together, but I have yet to make them. soon enough!
