On a lark I tried sealing a dread with the steam wand on my espresso machine. It works! I would not recommend it for sealing a whole set but it's good for a quick reseal.
I have a fairly high powered machine that builds up the steam pressure in about 1 min.
Bonus if you are a barista and need a quick touch up on your ends:)
Just don't let your boss see:)

Ha! I wonder about this at least once a day at work while Im idly making coffees for people! I havent worn dreads to my current job yet but I will be soon, and I'll definately try a little re-seal on the tips at some point 
Id rather be looked over, than overlooked.
