hey all,
i wrote this tutorial for making single ended roving a while back and forgot about it. seeing the question of how to do it has popped up lately here tis. im not sure why the first pic wont show up when the others do so ill just put a link to it:

- basically, you take the top of the roving and split it in two. (figure 2.)
- then you split it in two again (figure 3.).
- then you lock the stalks together by making the parts i marked with a yellow dot touch eachother and felting all the stalks together (figure 4).
- youll end up with quite a big loop after this, so youll need to tease the bottom out and felt together to get the desired loop size
i also find it easier to start with the loop and work my way to the bottom of the dread- but thats just me, you could do it either way. you can also just fold the roving over and felt it to the dread but i find this way to be stronger and less bulky.

Re: single ended roving dreads
Do you part them when they've already been wet and rolled or before?
And what do you use to tease it with? ^^

whatever you find easiest for both of them really. can split it wet or dry and just use your fingers or felting needle to tease it
