DE Question

Post by CaptainZig » Wed Mar 04, 2009 1:31 am

How many of you ladies/gentlemen backcomb the middle of the DE, where you fold it?

I've seen it done both ways, but I'd like opinions on which is better, pros & cons, stuff like that.

Feel free to lock or edit. I just didn't see anything about this particular issue. :)

I don't backcomb the middle. I prefer it that way because the dreads lay a little flatter if there's a loose bit in the middle.

I don't backcomb the middle since the way I secure the hair I'm using means I cannot backcomb it anyway. I prefer to leave the middly undreaded because it makes the dread easier to rubberband onto falls and the dreads hang better.

i dont back comb the middle either.
i tried to back comb the middle once, and the dread went a little messy and just didnt sit right on the falls.

I backcomb the middle, its not really intentional its just because of the way I backcomb, I prefer them backcombed because I like the extra fullness you get with the middle backcombed, plus I think it looks a bit odd with a much smaller un-backcomed middle

Because of the way I do DE I backcomb the middle. I prefer how it looks on falls like like Luvplacebo said looks a bit fuller and bulkier so I'd have to agree with her. The only con I can think of is that, might just be me, but it is a bit more difficult to squish as many dreads on the lace.

I backcomb mine but not nearly as much as the ends, I find the middle unravels so easily if I don't

I also backcomb the middle of my DEs since I like the tiny extra fullness it gives to my installs or falls.

I backcomb it just enough so the texture looks similar to the rest of the dread, but not enough to actually make it firm. It makes it easier to make into falls and makes them lay better for me =)

I always backcomb the middle, but I use a self-formulated method that when they're sealed and installed, they lay perfectly flat.

I don't backcomb the very middle as I find they don't sit right when installed, don't leave a large gap though, just enough so they have a bend.
