Tying hair up for exercise

Post by Laces » Wed Jun 05, 2013 5:52 pm

Hi :)

I recently got my synthetic dreads put in, and have only tied them in a low ponytail so far, which isn't very tight (I am using a general headband doubled to tie them back). I was wondering if anyone has any ideas of how to get dreads into a tight ponytail or bun to make sure that hair stays tied back and out of faces while at the gym?

Thanks!

I use these, plus a couple of bands to secure it in place.

An old pair of pantyhose or stockings work great. Cut a band off of a leg for the ponytie. Cut a wide band off of the thigh, tie a knot at the end, and you have a bun cover. If appearances are important, use colored hosings.

Normally what I do when I'm working outside, I just tie my dreads up into a knot, and then wrap a big elastic around it. That way, I can get the look of a nice knot, but it still be really secure and out of the way.
