Crochet dreads too stiff?

Hey guys! Haven't posted in a while but recently became obsessed with the natural crochet style.
I'm curious tho. I have about 45 dreads in my head. A mixture of single ended and double ended but more so the SE. My question is how long do you think till they calm down a little? They are pretty stiff compared to the normal smooth swist dreads I normally make. I'm having issues doing any up do and they kinda stick out and don't really relax. I've had 80+ dreaded before and never had such an issue like this before. I love em and all but need to be able to put them up.

Anyone else experience this or advice?
Thanks!

If they're already installed, just play with them as much as possible, and they should start to soften up a bit in about a week.

However, if you can give them a good steam [or two or three or four] they usually become a lot more wearable!

Ill try that. They became more pliable after a few days but still kinda stiff. Had to take them out due to me doing a horrible self install. haha. And they have become a bit fuzzy so more crocheting!
Ill try the steam method on them after.

Pouring boiling water over the dread after crocheting makes it very soft.

Pouring boiling water over the dread was how I finished and sealed them.
Hmmm.

Whip them around a bit, pour another lot of boiling water over them.
