Good steamers? :s (US) [edited~]

Post by SammiiSynthetic » Wed Jun 13, 2012 1:46 am

Meh, forget about the dread things, I just need help with a steamer xD

Does anyone know of any really good ones for like, under $50 that I can get in the US?
I like "steamfast", but is there better ones? I'm kinda worried to try some cause all the other brands i've tried have been sh..iet. :|

Anyway.. Whats a awesome one you've had for awhile that works super well?
I'd really prefer it to have a button, and for it to hold kind of a lot of water :p
And I suppose if its REALLY good, i'd spend more than $50 on it
I just wanna know it's gonna be reallyyy good.

EDIT;
Okay, has anyone tried this? Err.. if you haven't, do you think it would be good and I should try it? :| http://www.amazon.com/Multi-Purpose-Pre ... d_sbs_hg_6

It's kinda hard to go with the reviews cause normal people don't buy steamers for dreads

Well, since no one is replying maybe I can try to help lol. I'm in Canada and I'm sure our products are different but I ended up getting a garment steamer from Walmart. From what I've read, the higher the watts are the better. Mine is 1500 W but I've seen people saying that 1200 is ideal. The only thing I hate about mine is that the steam kind of "backs up" in the hose, and it starts gurgling so when that happens you need to hold it upright and let that pass. I learned that when I used to work in a clothing store and we had to steam clothes lol. It also gets really hot, as it continuously steams until you turn it off. It does work well though and has a large water reservoir, but I'm still going to try to look for a handheld one. Think it might suit my needs a little better. As for brand names, well, I can't help you there, but just look for one with a high wattage!! Hope that helps, at least a little?? Maybe? :)

Well yeah that helps a bit :3
I've tried some from walmart here and from target, and they've all been shit so blah :l

I guess i'll just have to try some that are 1200 watt and up :p
Thanks ^_^

I am very happy with my Jiffyj400 steamer, it cut my dread production time in half and you can purchase a special nozzle intended for wig styling. I got the info for my steamer from another really long awesome thread in this forum fyi... check out the search feature if you are still on the fence about which steamer to buy!

Well all the jiffys i've seen have been like over $100 :i3: And i've been far too cheap. ... plus I haven't had that kinda money in awhile
But! I bought a steamer lastnight finally to try. Actually spent $60 on it - the most i've spent on one :i6:
it's a conair and its 1600 watts :D Seems to be good, but we'll see. I'll be returning it if its not good. Its annoying and a bit loud, but eh. :p

Maybe in the future when I have more monies i'll get a really good steamer, but for now, I can't. :(

I used to make dreads with flat iron, but it seems too long for me to deal with it. Now I use an ordinary iron, the same as for my clothes and I am satisfied. Somebody does it or not? I'm interested.

I have a shark steamer I don't use.... Might be persuaded to pass it along.
