Hurro from New Zealand and stuffs!
Hey hey!Long time reader, first time poster...
I'm Cathy, I live in New Zealand and I've been making wool dreads for... Well, I had dreads years ago and I used to make a few accent ones to put in there, but I've just gotten back into it recently. My ma and pa are Richard and Elizabeth Ashford from Ashford Handicrafts and for this year's Wheel Magazine Liz asked me to do a wee article on dreads made out of their wool roving (roving! Ha, we call it sliver down here in the antipodes. Anyways...) and so I did and ever since have rather got into it! I just started up my website to do orders aand I've just got my first commission(!) to do a wig for a friend of mine who has alopecia. So that's all super exciting and stuffs
Anyways, I love all the work you guys do, it's all kinds of inspiring! I'll post some pictures of dreads that I do as soon as I can be arsed, but to start here's a nice picture of me and my long-suffering boy. We're on a bus.
Churr!

Heya! welcome and all that. I love your huge sunglasses! They're brilliant. Good luck with selling your dreads. You can advertise on here once you've been a member for 30 days and have 50 posts. It's a real good way of getting your name 'out there'.

Thanks so much dude
I dunno how many people will want to have them shipped over from NZ but I can hope!
Seriously, people here do the coolest stuff, I feel like a bit of a scab borrowing everyone's ideas and not contributing!

It won't be long before you're the old timer giving a Noob some sound advice and posting inspirational show-offs! I don't think international shipping puts many people off if they know you make good qaulity stuff.

Hey Cathy,
I've visited the Ashford Factory just this year! Around Easter time.
New Zealand seems like such a gorgeous place to live

Ha, really? How funny! Was it, er, informative and entertaining?
Yeah, New Zealand is awesome. Apart from the low population of hair extension wearers!

Re: Hurro from New Zealand and stuffs!
It was indeed informative and entertaining
I've played around with a bunch of the Ashford spinning wheels so it was cool to see the mini museum of wheels upstairs. Since UNI I've been a lone felter & spinner for years so it was nice to visit somewhere that was all about wool.
There's a few in Australia, but I wouldn't say a high population.
I think a trip to the UK is in order for us both
