Fascinators: How To

Post by Ice_Pick_Abortions » Sun May 17, 2009 8:08 pm

Anyone know of any good tuts for a fascinator, preferably with netting and feathers or mounted on a barrette? i'm going to make a mess and try to make one :geek:

This may not be much help, but I like to plan everything out by layering all the elements and then deciding if I want to change anything before gluing.

There really doesn't seem to be a 'proper' way to do it, other than being creative and imaginative. Tho personally having too many things can sometimes be a clutter.

Will have a hunt to see if I can find any actual tutorials.

i was just wondering if there was a particular way to attach everything so it doesn't overload the clip and stays in place etc. it's one of those things that's probably really simple but i'm just not sure where to start with putting it together!

I don't know if this is helpful, but this tutorial from Craftster is one of my favorites.
She made two cocktail hats and a pillbox hat out of one large plastic yogurt container.

You could adapt the technique and just cut a smaller piece of the plastic.

Edit: I just realized I'm a moron and didn't actually paste the link. Duuuuh.

If you do accidentally overload the barrette, you could try putting wig clips around the sides to make it more secure.

I've noticed a lot of people mount them on combs, and as IKS said, you could always sew on extra clips.

Here are some things Google brought up:

And one video by Ruby Rouge from Ministry of Burlesque:

Hope that helps you out. :D

i would only be wearing it with dreads so a comb wouldn't really work.

thanks for the links, i'll check them out now!

if you want to glue it then PVA does the job if one surface is porous. You can get big extra strengh pots in B&Q for a few pounds
