For alterations you dont need a tutorial... USUALLY.
I love altering everything I buy.
So if you got any questions feel free to ask, thats something Im more experianced with.

well, start with patterns of clothing... (if you want to make stuff from scratch, that is) those usually give you a good idea as to what to do to change already made stuff...
um.. is there anything in particular that you want to do to your clothing? (flaring pants or shirt sleeves, changing t-shirts to halter tops, ect) we can better help you if we know what you want... there isn't much out there for altering clothing... but check he DIY web pages...
here are some sites to check out:

these should get you started... or at least some ideas

Don't go by what other people say about sewing machines. If you are really serious about getting one and using it frequently it's best to visit a dealer and test out the machines yourself so you know what you are comfy with

I fully agree. (though I will tell you my experience lol)kezerb wrote:Don't go by what other people say about sewing machines. If you are really serious about getting one and using it frequently it's best to visit a dealer and test out the machines yourself so you know what you are comfy with
I personally have found that Brother brand is good for simple stitching. Even if it comes with several kinds of stitches, its very temperamental, in my opinion. Singer works best for me. You may find the opposite, or go for a different brand entirely. If you have the option of testing out different models, don't opt out and buy the best looking machines. LOL the best machine I ever had was the ugliest. It was a 20 year old (at the time I was using it) singer table top. it was one of the first that didn't have to be in a sewing table, and had a handle, and could transport it from a sewing table to another surface--it didn't have a box cover. When I saw it, I thought it would work like crap. turns out, it was the smoothest machine i ever used. Make sure to get a machine for quality, not appearance.

The new singers are horrendus but my 1950's one is amazing. It only does a straight stitch but it does them perfect, it's also an industrial too
The one's most people like now adays are Janome and Brother
EDIT: Read what you said wrong lol
