VERY dry skin
I asked this in another thread but i was hoping make-up and skin could help too.
A friend of mine has Very dry scalp. Very bad dandruff. He says most shampoo's for this problem only make it worse. Selsun blue, and head and shoulders dry it out more.
I was wondering if there was something he can do to help it.

Re: VERY dry skin
If a proper anti-dandruff shampoo like Selsun isn't working then he should probably see his GP about it. Those shampoos will dry up the head a bit though, cuz that's what an alkaline does but after a week or two of regular use he should have seen a difference. Even if a hot oil treatment soothes the problem, it certainly won't cure it.

Re: VERY dry skin
If its red and itchy then a trip to the docs would be best, however, if its just dry the rub some olive oil intothe scalp, leave on over night (or as long as possible) before washing out with a pH nuetral, non scented/coloured shampoo. Paul Mitchell do a baby shampoo called baby dont cry, expensive but very good!
(I get exzema on my head so know a few tricks for the dry flaky bit after the problem has been treated )

Re: VERY dry skin
I went to the Doctor's/GP and was told that I had: seborrhoeic dermatitis
They gave me normal Selsun and it cleared it up a treat.
Hope that helps. I have never used the blue stuff but I swear by the stuff the doctor gave me. The only downside is it realllllllly dries your hair out. It felt like straw >.<

Re: VERY dry skin
Go SLS free.
Pre-treat scalp with coconut oil before every wash. Just put on loads, wait for however long possible. Plus add a bit to scalp after washing to keep effect.
Tea tree oil can be good but also an irritant to many.

I've said it before, but I'll say it again, it can never be said too many times.
