flaky skin

Post by Kitkat » Sun Feb 01, 2009 10:01 am

My bf got natural dreads and then i extended his dreads with fake hair.... anyways, before we extended his dreads he was told to use dread wax..... BIG mistake, its made his skull really flaky and scaly and looks like he has major dandruff... should we use like head and shoulders to get rid of it or does anyone suggest anything to help with this problem??? I was also told but an old friends mum to soak his hair in apple vinegar. but we didnt wanna try that till we have heard from other people....

PLEASE HELP!!!!....

Apple cider vinegar is excellent for getting rid of dandruff, if that's what he has. It's worth a try, the stuff can work miracles on lots of things.

But ah, I feel obliged to warn you about the smell :P make sure you're in a well-ventilated room with a clothes peg on your nose. I was nearly sick from the smell.

Do you dilute the vinegar at all?

Just like you dilute squash. I'm not sure of an exact quantity but it'll be something like 1 part vinegar to 3 parts water.

It's actually strange (now that we're talking about dandruff) I've always had a problem with my scalp, but in the 6 months I've had dreads, I haven't seen any dandruff.
Any idea how this could be?

Have you changed shampoos or stopped using styling products since getting dreads? That could be it.

I never used styling products, and have always used perfume-free shampoo - that's what baffels me  Maybe DreadheadHQ is just really goo for the scalp :D ?
