Help with roots. >.>

I guess I left my synth dreads in a bit too long and now my roots are a bit dreaded up. I have school everyday and can't go with my roots dreaded because it just looks a mess. Is there any way to get this out like, now? I need any and all advice. My poor hair looks horrid like this.

Obscene amounts of conditioner, and a comb. Start from the ends and work your way to the root gently.

yikes, that's never fun! CirqueMachine said it all, be nice and gentle and work your way up from the ends. I'm not a huge Paul Mitchel fan, but The Detangler (conditioner) has saved my life at work a few times with clients that have had the same trouble for one reason or another.

Possibly a little too late, but mine used to dread at the roots like crazy and I found it useful to gently pull the roots apart using the two sections where you plaited them in. Don't do it hard or you can rip your hair, but separating the two sections can make it easier to comb through. Once I doscovered pulling the sections apart I didn't need any conditioner, just a slightly wider toothed comb, but that will obviously depend on your hair.

Someone else suggested clothes softener as a solution to help un-knot the hair. I have not tried this myself, but if you're desperate, maybe try it out.

I managed to get them out. It was work, but after an hour of conditioner in and then letting it air dry over night I was able to comb them out.

The Aussie detangler spray is a total godsend for removing real locks (It removed 4 year old natural dreads with persistence....) For the price of it (£3.00) I always keep a bottle kicking about, it also nourishes the hair cause it's full of jojoba and vitamin E and other goodness
