Can I dye my hair extensions with out ruining them?

Post by okiwa » Fri Jul 15, 2011 1:42 pm

Hi I recently got hair extensions weaved in. I ordered the hair extensions myself because it would be faster and cheaper. They are real human hair. But the problem was that they turned out lighter than I expected. They look fine but I was wondering if I had the option to dye them a darker colour. Would that damage the quality of the hair extensions?

On the website I brought them from it says they can be dyed but the woman who did them suggested not to. I don't know if that's just because she personally doesn't like dying hair at all or if it would actually damage them?

Please help thanks :)

With most brands you are just fine to dye them darker :)

Dying them darker shouldn't be a problem. It does damage the hair a little bit (just like dye damages the hair growing out of your head), but it shouldn't make them unwearable or anything. I've used permanent hair dye on really cheap, low-grade hair before and it turned out fine.
