Tentacles

Post by Katedra-Obscura » Tue Jan 04, 2011 8:11 pm

I find it quite hard to work with fimo as I have silly long nails (they grow too fast!)
But I've been experimenting with tentacles, the process kinda chills me out

Red and Black tentacle with black drop pearl, modelled by the Phantom ..

a blended pink into purple with pearl drop and modelled by the Phantom again :D lol

This one was sold a wee while ago, my sister said it looked like the saints row symbol, I've never played it so I have to take her word for it

I'm still a novice when it comes to playing to fimo but I think I'm getting there at last I just need to find a way to clear it out from underneath my fingernails!! *rrrrarrrrr hulk smash*

I love these, I have a bit of a tentacle/cthulhu obsession and have been after some as plugs/spirals for my ears for a while now. If you could make them to order to a specific size I'd eagerly hand over cash for these.

I love your blends they are really nicely done :D
I love tentacles but have never got round to making any, i really want to make some tentacle spirals for my ears but I don't know if it would look right at 28mm and might use a lot of fimo :(
My fave is definitely the tentacle holding the pearl drop and your model is fab :p

They look really good. One thing that can make them look super nice is adding a coat of sealer. Be sure to buy the sealer meant for Fimo clay though, because some sealers melt/ruin the Fimo itself. They sell it in Gloss, Matte, and Satin. I have the Gloss and LOVE IT!

those are awesome! I love tentacles.

I know a lot of polymer clay people will wear gloves while working with it, to prevent it from coating their hands (or getting it under their nails?). I personally don't, as I don't have any gloves! But it's just a thought :D

Oh thank for you the really nice comments ladies!!

I've never made any as plugs before as I've read horror stories about the fimo/clay getting into cuts but I guess if they are properly healed then there is no reason why you couldn't wear it in your ear. I'll see what i can do on the plug front..

As for varnish etc, I usually add a nice matt or satin varnish to them but I've not been able to get any lately, I personally don't like gloss finish on fimo but I have had requests for it, I usually sell these on Etsy or Dawanda but I've got no gift boxes to post them in so I'm just making them and handing them around the house until I can get some supplies in both the boxes and the glaze/varnish etc..

I'll post an update when I'm back to being fully operational !

Me too - I'd definitely have some if they were for sale!
