A good base coat & top coat is a great start, I can't recommend any though, except maybe seche vite & save the nail top coats. I don't use base as my nails never chip cos they're plastic.

Agree a good top coat is a must - I don't like Seche as it always seems to give me tip-shrinkage. My favourite top coat is Boots no 7 Stay Perfect, really quick drying and NO CHIPPING (on me) for over a week at least. I usually buy it when they've got those £5 off vouchers. I do use a basecoat too, mainly to avoid any chance of staining and to protect the nail a bit, either Boots No 7 Complete Care or a Sally Hansen one. And rubber gloves when washing up - they are a must too!

I've stopped using seche vite. Couldn't stand the fibre glass smell. I use "save the nail wet look top coat" made by nails Inc.
