Where have you traveled?
I absolutely LOVE traveling, and I wish I had the money to travel all over the world.
I thought it would be fun to see all the places people have traveled and/or lived. What you loved about those places, what you saw, what you did. Any good stories that you have.
What are the places you'd want to visit the most?
I'm originally from the Netherlands. Moved to Canada when I was 13. I have lived in Nova Scotia and in Ontario.
I've traveled to Belgium, France, England, Iceland and the States.
I really would love to visit India, Australia, the Island of Hawaii and Egypt.
Out of every place I've visited, Canada is my favourite. The nature and wildlife, overall very friendly population.

Re: Where have you traveled?
I haven't been out of the states a lot. I"ve been to Canada (Toronto, and everything en route between Wisconsin and Vermont).
I've been to Germany, all over but in a short span of time. And a short stay in Denmark to visit Tivoli etc. I found Denmark and Germany to be SO beautiful. Clean, green, and with a fabulous atmosphere. My favorite was Hamburg. It was so pretty and the neighborhood I stayed in was so cozy and homey. I loved it!!!! And these gardens, I can't remember the name... Planten und Blumen? So GORGEOUS. I have a thing for europe. I totally romanticize it, but I love cobblestone streets where the buildings are brick and mashed up together and the road curves around and you can only see more buildings and peaks, *sigh*
In the states, I have been to every state but Hawaii, Alaska, Arkansas, Mississippi, South and North Carolina, Alabama, Utah, Idaho, and Montana. We traveled a lot in the summer when I was a kid, taking camping vacations to historical stuff. I am really partial to CA though. I lived there for 8 years and it will always be home to me.
510 baby.

I'm in Hawaii, so I rarely get the urge to travel. I've only been within the states, and only on the west coast. However, I do have plans to travel to Thailand or the UK next year

Re: Where have you traveled?
I've only been to various bits of the Northwest US and I've spent a lot of time in Victoria, BC, Canada where my boyfriend lives. Vancouver, BC is a horrible city and the traffic makes me want to stab myself and the Tim Hortons are too hard to find.
I also took a short trip to Philadelphia to visit my sister which included a day trip to New York City. I love the history of the east coast and how there's 400 year old cemeteries in the middle of the big city, but it's just too dirty for me. I'm a child of the Pacific NW, I like forests and rocky beaches and clean air.
I'm going to Las Vegas in a week, I'm excited about that! Not excited about the plane trip though, I get horrible motion sickness. And if we can save up enough my friend and I want to go to Amsterdam next year for the Cannabis Cup, like the big stoners we are.
I'd love love love to go to Europe, especially Scotland and France and Greece. Not for the cities though, I want the ancient ruins and the drafty castles and the abandoned graveyards. I'd also like to go to Hawaii and New Zealand and somewhere tropical.

Re: Where have you traveled?
I've been to Belgium, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Spain and England. Sounds like a lot, but it really isn't. I've never been on a plane, so I'd like to fly sometime. Don't know where I would want to go though, want to see everything
If I someday have a lot of money (that would be never I guess), I would like to travel to every place where a Formula 1 race is held. In one season

I haven't been many places - wish I could visit the far East..
I've been to Italy, Germany, Scotland and Wales... and I live in England.
That's it. Wow, that's not much is it?
My friend's moving to Uruguay soon I'm really going to miss her.

Re: Where have you traveled?
In Europe I've been tooo... France, Germany, England, Nederlands, Greece, Spain, Belgium, Switzerland, Italy.. Probably a few more but I was 8 years old and I barely remember
In the US I've only been to New York and LA, and I go over to New Zealand quite a bit cause I've got friends and family there and it's only a 3 hour plane ride.
I'd LOVE to go back to Germany and France. I've also never met a Canadian I didn't like and it's one of my top priorities to go there at least once! Oh and Scandanavia too, don't care which country...All of Scanadanavia.

Next year I will be off to Norway for a couple of weeks on a small tour, which is awesome for me as it will be my first time out of the UK

Re: Where have you traveled?
Im only 21 but ive travelled a lot, i looove traveling and save a lot so that i go everywhere i can:)
i've been in most countries in northen 'mainland' europe + england and scotland.. really liked edinbourgh!
my family is orginally from cyprus so have been to greece a lot, the food there i fantastic!
my fathers side of the family lives in Kenya so have been there and Tanzania quite a few times too.. its amazing and soo different from anywhere else but it would be hard traveling around there if you dont know the different places /language or werent going as a group, especially if you are a girl..
I went backpacking around australia/new zealand/fiji/west coast of the states a couple of years ago and absolutely adore australia! go there if you ever have the oppertunity! and make a stop in Perth on the west coast, such a nice city, great place to go out, has (relatively) unspoilt beaches and gorgeous areas that arent crawling with tourists.. have been to australia 3 times now:D
and really want to go back to New Zealand and bring my mom, she would love it!
live in Maryland for 6 months this spring and it was my first time on the east coast other than florida or NY, very different experience, but nice.. i like the states, but hate being dependent on a car.. went to hawaii for spring break though, kinda like fiji, just civilized:D
spent 3 weeks in seatle before going home and took a weekend trip to vancouver.. one of the nicest and cleanest cities ive been to in a good while and really really want to go back to Canada!
Havent seen much of asia except for a couple of days in singapore and would like to go to Japan.. but feel like i should at least know .some. japanese before i go so as to be be totally lost.. anybody been there without speaking japanese?

Re: Where have you traveled?
OMG, I love this thread already! I got the bug to travel on my honeymoon in London. I LOVED London and think about it almost every day since I left.
I have bopped around the US a little, but not as much as some. I've been to Salem and Boston in Mass., Atlanta, GA, New Orleans, LA (which I also loved!) Miami, FL, Mufreesburo, TN, All around Maine (where the hubby is from) and New York, where I lived as a child but have not seen since I was 9 years old (that's next years trip!)
I've been to parts of Canada, mainly Montreal for snowboarding. I'll be heading off to Dublin this Tuesday and I am SO excited for that!
I'd love to see it all! My hubby and I want to try to take a trip every year, alternating between domestic and international. Some big ones on my list to hit are Vienna, Prague, Rome, and Germany. I want to see a WGT before I die, dammit!
Of course....to be quite honest given my chance at any of those places I might be inclined to give them up for another shot at England. I really enjoyed it there

Re: Where have you traveled?
I haven't been very far...
I am from England and have visited many places in mainland Great Britain (but not NI or ROI, which I would like to)
I have spent a lot of time in France and Portugal.
I have also been to Spain, Canary Islands (Gran Canaria, Lanzerote, La Gomera, Tenerife), USA (tennessee, mississippi and louisiana - we travelled down the mississippi in a paddle boat (I think that's what they are called) and had a stay in New Orleans at the end).
Other places I have been which I particularly loved were Russia (Moscow, and in particular St Petersburg) and Amsterdam.
Next year we are going on an amazing holiday... I disagree with flying, but desperately want to see many places in the world, which is a bit of a quandry, but it seems a bit of a no-brainer to me to destroy the world I really want to see by flying there to see it. Unfortunately rail travel is rather time consuming. I rail/ferry where possible. Next year we are going to get the train from London to Paris, and then on to Moscow via Cologne. We will then have a couple of nights in Moscow as my OH hasn't been there and I think he would love it, and I would like a second trip there. Then we will (hopefully, you can't exactly advance book so I don't know for sure yet) get the trans siberian express from moscow through mongolia and finally to Beijing, where we will stay for a few days. Then the train from Beijing to Shanghai, where we will stay for a couple of days. Then a ferry from shanghai to japan (possibly to kobe, the exact initial destination in japan will depend on which day we will be leaving china as they are merchant ships which sail to different locations on different days). We will have some time in Osaka and some time in Tokyo. Then we will have to fly home as I couldn't possibly afford in money or time to do the return journey. We have been saving for a while now, and I hope it will be amazing.
My other future wishlist destinations are - morrocco (which I will travel to and from by train, can be done in 48 hours from the UK), somewhere in africa (maybe botswana), thailand, india, vietnam. I will probably do the whole of SE Asia in one trip by railing there and flying back. I would also like to see the rest of europe and will again, do that by train. When I have kids I would like to go to Lapland, I would like to spend time in the arctic circle and see the northern lights. If I get to go to all those places I will be very happy. I would also like to go to south america, but not until I have been to all those other places. I would be interested to see new york and LA, but don't think I can justify flying there. If I was going to fly there are other places I would rather go.

Re: Where have you traveled?
I never went abroad until I was 18 so I have been trying to make up for it since. Damn work gets in the way of holidays!
I have been:
Gibraltar;
Morocco (on a day trip);
Majorca;
Turkey x3;
Prague x3 (once in summer, twice in winter, winter is best! Drinking rum & hot chocolate in the snow, beautiful architechture, cheap beer & food... Possibly going to get married there, and I want to see more of the Czech Rebublic like the gorgeous castles and bone church);
Tallinn;
Sharm el Shiekh in Egypt (with a day trip to Cairo to see the pyramids and the Egyptian Museum. I could take or leave Sharm but Cairo was amazing!);
Dominican Republic (all-inclusive, with cocktails included, and so many types of rum!);
Goa (possibly my favourite destination so far, going back in Jan, yay!);
Spain x3 (dad-in-law has a home there!).
Also I have been on holiday in the UK to Cornwall & Norfolk a few times when I was a kid. I would love to see more of this country (and the world in general!) but there's only so much holiday I can take (and afford!) a year. I need to win the lottery!

Re: Where have you traveled?
I've never been outside the US.
I lived in California until I was 18, and I've lived in Arizona for the last 5 years. I grew up in Southern California (relatively near LA) but when I move back in a couple months I'm going to be up near San Francisco. Right now I'm in the Phoenix area, but I've spent some time in Tucson as well.
I've also been to Ohio 3 times and I'm going back again in a couple weeks. My best friend lives there.
Went to iowa a few times to visit my ex's family, and drove from there up to South Dakota once. In case anyone was wondering, like every single bar and restaurant in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, calls itself a "casino" because they all have really ghetto old video poker machines from the 80's.
I've also been to Vegas a ton of times since its just a hop, skip, and a jump across the Hoover Dam from here, and I went to Hawaii once when I was a kid but I was too young to really remember or appreciate it.

Re: Where have you traveled?
Well..I'm not proud of it, but im originally from Estonia >.<
I moved to Finland (yay ^^)
And this summer I visited Switzerland, but I'd like to think Switzerland is the only place I've traveled to. The 2hour ride with a ship doesn't really say 'travel' to me...
I really want to go to Germany, Canada, Iceland, Australia, India and Japan would probably be cool too. I just loooove flying with a plane
But unfortunately traveling is waay too expensive

Re: Where have you traveled?
i'm from essex in england but am now living in south london - i love london...the buzz is brilliant...flats are just so bloody expensive - we're looking for one at the moment.
outside england i've been to wales loads...france a fair few times - we travelled from callais down to the pyrenees (spelling??) when i was young with my mum and dad in our VW bus - i miss the bus like mad! we were there for a few weeks and stayed with friends in the mountains for a while.
i've also been to the algarve in portugal which was lovely and i'd definitely recommend it for a holiday!
that's about it
i've been to stonehenge in england for the solstice - interesting if not from england

Re: Where have you traveled?
Where at? I lived in Hayward. Are you talking about the Bay area? Gawd I wish I could go back. There's a really great hair store in Oakland!when I move back in a couple months I'm going to be up near San Francisco
I am soooo envious of you guys who are in Europe and can just jet around to all these different countries. Here it's like, "ok, I'm in Illinois now, ok I'm in Indiana now, ok I'm in Ohio now," and it never becomes anything different! What I wouldnt' do to have all those other countries within reach!!!
