I live in Kentucky! And yes, I've been to Waverly Hills, but it was waaaaay back in primary school so I don't remember it that well. I should go back!

My mother's big into supernatural stuff so I've been all over the state on creepy tours. I've done the WKU haunted campus tour on Halloween four years in a row now, stayed overnight in Hobson House, and got to hear the terrifying story about how my childhood house was haunted. I apparently used to see the ghost of the man who died in my room up until about third grade any time I fell ill. Creepy!!!

Any reason you ask about Waverly in particular?

Awesome... I love all that stuff, but really want to go to Waverly before they convert all but one floor into a hotel. Flights from the UK to Kentucky are really expensive at the moment though.

I have a bit of a fascination with derelict old buildings, especially asylums, sanatariums, sanatoriums etc.

I dont suppose you know if there are places to stay near by to it? and the closest airport?

The Louisville International Airport is 10 miles away from Waverly Hills itself, and there's tons of hotel options in Louisville. There is a place called Haunted Hotel about six miles away from the sanatorium, but I kinda get the feeling it's a seasonal haunted house and not an actual hotel. -.- Barring that, I guess it comes down to price range and/or how close you want to be to the sanatorium or restaraunts or the Cox Smokers cigar outlet. [You should really snap a picture of that ridiculous sign if you get the chance.]

The full range of options are here: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source= ... 14&iwloc=A

If you can make it in October, you also get the chance at doing the Danger Run and visiting Baxter Avenue Morgue, so you could really make a week of it! And since they're converting most of Waverly Hills into a hotel, why not stay there? Which sounds cool but I wouldn't even take my own advice because I'm a total weenie about ghosts, so take it with a big ol' spoonful of salt. ;]]

The south is haunted as shit. My town has so many haunted attractions, and with it being a college town and me having lived here my whole life, I often get piled in a car with a bunch of drunk idiots and get to freak them out. It's about once a week that I get kidnapped for a few hours and impersonate Vincent Price while weird things happen. Not gonna lie, shit sometimes gets a little too real. >.<

It's a bit out of the way, but if you manage to make the trip over yonder, you should swing a little further south and visit the Bell Witch museum in Tennessee. It's wicked; you'd have to amputate me and drag me against my will to go back there. If you want haunted, that's totally it.

No problem! You can check this website for more KY creepiness: http://theshadowlands.net/places/kentucky.htm There's lots of Louisville stuff to check out, and I had no idea there were so many stories in Bowling Green, where I live. Spooky!

It might also be worth checking out hauntings in nearby states [Tennessee, Ohio, Illinois] if you're planning a trip over here, or even sites close to where you live: http://theshadowlands.net/places/

I live in Kentucky and I have been dying to check that place out. It's about 3 hours away from me though and I just haven't had a chance yet. I had a chance to go a couple years ago when they had some kind of all nighter out there. But you had to go and spend the entire night alone in a room separate from the people you came with. NO WAY was I leaving myself that open! lol
