As a part of my BA in Media Design, my uni offers to take a semester at Central St. Martins in London and I have applied, and most likely will end up there in september through to december.
I was wondering if any of you have studied at St. MArtins, and perhaps could share with me some experiences?
Also, I need to find short term rentals in London. Anyone got any good websites, or know of anyone renting apartements for 3-4 months in London. The school is located in Kings Cross, and I am not that well travelled in the city of London. I kinda need some help on where it's ok to live around that area.
Any sort of help would be appreciated.
Moving to London, help!

Re: Moving to London, help!
..surely your uni that is working a long side St. Martin's in exchange students should be looking to sort your accommodation? because common sense would be that students exchanging to go to your uni would therefore have empty student accommodation within London for that same period of time.
You won't be successful at finding private accommodation within Central London.. the deposit a lone would be a ridiculous amount, and private landlords generally don't like renting out to students, especially on short term leases.
There are some places designed for take on students but I don't know much about them.. try searching online or asking your university for information.. or even contact St. Martin's yourself.

Google brought quite a lot up, try 'short term let london' and things like that - my experience is clearly the opposite to TwiggyDEVOUR's as I've never had a problem finding a short-term let, and none have any of my London-based friends. One thing we have learned is if you're going for a private room, try and communicate with your potential housemates first... Skype is a godsend We've all found our accomodation on Gumtree. Kings Cross is about as central as you'll get in terms of public transport, if that helps. I hope you find somewhere!

Re: Moving to London, help!
have you tried emailing the accommodation office for central st martins? they might have lets that they refer people in similar/the same situation to?
and yep, kings cross is very easy to get to, and its within walking distance of several other underground stations and bus lines so it shouldn't be a problem to reach from somewhere a bit further out, i live in east london and it has never taken me more than an hour to get there

Re: Moving to London, help!
Thanks heaps guys!
That gave me a few good pointers indeed.
I'm gonna email St Martins and see what they can offer, and have a look around. The move is not until mid September, so I guess I have plenty of time.
Can't wait to spend some more time in London!
