First Few SE Dreads

I actually had about 5 dreads before this one that are too embarrassing to show.

I'm having some problems with the tips, any help?

for my tips, I wind the hair down as low as I can, then grip it with a pair of needle nose pliers. I then steam, and can steam up to the very tip because my hand is well out of the way. I'll hold it for a few seconds until the hair cools, then let go with the pliers.

This leaves a kink at the very bottom of each dread, which I just snip off. Very easily done and no burns!
