Quadruple dread?
I just did this as little experiment. Please disregard the messiness at the top I was using leftover hair that got tangled up and it looks crazy lol.
This would basically give you 4 dreads per 1 braided area/spot. The downsides I see would be :
added weight to each spot, but I made my dreads thinner than I normally do so not sure if that would help, plus if they were curled the added volume would make up for them being thinner.
Since I just made this one I don't know how they would lay or look installed in the hair.
Thats all I can think of right now. But you would install it at first like a SE and thread your hair through the middle (it creates a small area in the middle where you can thread your hair through). Then you could just braid your hair down one dread like a DE installation.
What do you all think?

Re: Quadruple dread?
I experimented with three-ended dread once, for my own a-line dreads where the shortest ones at the back needed some volume. Well. It was a funny idea, but once in use the third end, which was a single-ender attached to a double ender, started wander along the dread. So extra dreads need to be anchored into the structure of a dread, otherwise it won't work.

Re: Quadruple dread?
ive made triple-end dreads before, i anchored them just by hand stitching the SE to the middle of the DE
not loads of stitching, just a few to hold it in place
be warned though... a full head of these buggers is seriously heavy, and you will probably have to abandon all your small-neck tops because youll never get them on lol

I have done the triple ender thing too. SE + DE. They weren't too bad to wear as they were thin, so rather light, but they gave the much needed volume around my parting and the back when I had my microdreads in

I think it's a great idea! ^_^ I think you just need to give it a little more practice to make the 'knot' at the top a bit smaller for installs, I guess?

Re: Quadruple dread?
I like the look of this!
I make tripple enders often by setting up a double ender, and leaving one side whole, then splitting the other side into two. So theres one thicker dread, and two thinner ones. Gonna try making a quad-ender and see how it works out (:
