i used only boiling water and they're kinda loose. washing machine scares me- last time i used that my dreads looked like one big mess

They look like they need more backcombing, the loose hairs will get tangled together when the dreads are installed and will be pulled out when seperated. If they don't hold together when put through the wash, they're unlikely to hold together when they're on someone's head. They look really nice and flexible and would be fine if they're only to be used as falls though

If they look messy after using the wachine machine try doing them on a shorter cycle with a cooler temperature. Where the ends are so long and whispy if you put them through they wash they will tangle together.
I agree with what the others have said. Really work on backcombing a little then ripping it apart and rebackcombing. Make sure you backcomb all sides of the dreads so that you don't end up with any loose patches. If you still end up with small loose patches (I know I manage to, even if I think I'e backcombed properly) then a felting needle can really help to secure the area.
