Has anyone done this before? I've never tried it and just wondered how you go about it and what it looks like finished?

If this is just a stupid question or in the wrong place, feel free to delete or move!


I fancied putting it into my hair for a change but not sure how it would look. How long can it be kept in for? Will it go flat from sleeping?

Isn't it the same as installing DE dreads. I'm not sure.

You can install it the same way as DEs, or you can braid for just a little bit, cut the cyberlox, and stick your hair inside of it. I've got a few pictures of cyberlox installs in my customer gallery:

If i cut it and stick my hair inside, will the cut part tear eventually? Im just being dumb here, sorry!

The metallic colors might fray a bit but I don't think it will tear.. you could always rubberband at the top just in case, though

i've been wondering about this too, i think i'm going to try it

i'm still not sure about if it goes flat or not when you sleep on it though?

That's what I'm worrying about!

Crin doesn't go flat at all after sleeping in it.
You could use the same crin for months & it will remain the same [though metallic crin does wear a bit - the metallic-ness wears away].

I used to just braid it into my hair on my own.
I'd just section off my hair, fold a long piece of crin in half & braid it in.
Since my hair is a tiny bit longer than shoulder-length & I didn't want any extra hair or braids poking through, I'd braid it in for a couple inches, rubber band it, then braid backwards back towards my scalp.
I was able to get it all out without chopping any of my hair either.

I started with crin because my scalp was hurtin' from dreads, it was a nice break!
Only downfall about it is how out of control it is. I got sick of it flying in my face.
It was hard to keep it nice & even looking for photos too since it has a mind of it's own.
Other than that, I totally recommend braiding it in!
Though be prepared for a lot of stupid questions.

i think i'm going to try braiding in a few bits of crin in with my dreads at some point, probably over the summer. i'll post some pics when i do

You can also take a look at Doc's newest show off for a crin installation where she actually slipped her dreads inside the crin.

My experience with installed crin is quite different o.o I had my head done in regular size non metallic crin from ikickshins. We blanket stitch braided it in like DEs.
First thing to know is that it lengthens a lot through wear just because of the weight of it. I kept mine in for three weeks and had to trim it about once a week to keep the lengths even and to keep it from adding too much length to the style. When I started it was around my shoulders, after a week it was down to my shoulderblades.
Sleeping on it DID affect it. Some of the ends became slightly flattened, and a few of them developed an irregular shape rather than being straight tubes. I wouldn't say it made them look bad at all, but they were getting there, and I think they would have been in bad shape if I had left them in much longer than three weeks.

Might be different with metallic crin, who knows.

You know, that seems like that would happen. I would have the same worry. Crin does bend and get "smashed" and though you can make it somewhat tubular again after it's smashed, it doesn't quite take the same full shape. I would think that the metallics would fray a bit, and get a little misshaped while sleeping. Maybe sleeping with a bag or sleeping cap would help?

I had some mini-crin installed with roving dreads for a while. it looked cool, but it tended to get caught on things and i did stretch out a lot and become misshapen with thin bits and wider bits. Also, everyone i met wanted to play with it which added to the stretching out and the misshaping. I had it in for about a month and had to cut like 6 inches off of each end to keep them even with my roving.
