Cosplay Wig Help?! (long)

Hi everyone!!! im hoping you all can help me....

im going to an anime (japanese animation) next month and i am dressing up as the anime character ayane from ayane's high kick. http://www.ednoonchester-artwork.com/up ... ickZ19.jpg
however, i am having the WORST luck trying to find/put-together a wig.

my idea was to get a medium-dark red wig (choppy layered and about chin length) and find a matching weft to attach to the back for the ponytail. im bit of a perfectionist and ocd about things being "matching", so (for the sake of keeping my ocd from attacking my sanity) im trying to do my best at making the wig and ponytail match as closely as possible..

i have found plenty of wigs i like, but i cant tell by looking at the online pictures if any wefts i can find will match or not.

i dont want to buy a long wig and cut it cuz i have no idea what im doing with a pair of scissors! and i want to avoid having to dye the synthetic weft if i can since i dont have experience doing that either.... (sucks to be a newb >_<)

help?!

Don't use scissors! Use a hair razor! You can probably find them in a beauty supply store, or, you can buy them from doctoredlocks.com. I just bought the razors, not the tool for like $3. They last ages if you use them on human hair, but I used them on synth (which shortens their lifespan).
I would suggest buying a really long red wig, doing a ponytail at the back, then seperating the chunks of hair, razor them to the appropriate length, then backcomb and use some form of glue to create some spikes (I don't exactly know what most people use to make those spikes with synth hair). You don't want them to look like dreads though, so you just need some glue to make those fringes etc. Backcomb the hair more so on the sides/underneath.
Razors are easier to play with than scissors, because even if you screw up, it looks better in a way
I razored out a wig of mine that was stupidly thick. It was so easy.

what silky loose extension colors mixed could make the wig colors in your opinion?

i was thinking sweet red and scarlet from doctored locs

I was thinking sweet red, but I don't think that comes in silky hair.

yea i dont think so either, i looked around for it, but all i see is deep cherry and red.

i guess i may have to deal with those 2 colors if they dont make any other colors in silky loose. lol

sooooo... i got my loose silky kk and although they are absolutely gorgeous and soft and wonderful..... they don't match the wig i got


(terrible picture....its midnight here and i took the pick with my awful kitchen light with my cell phone)
the wig isnt as pink, purple or burgundy as the picture shows and the loose silky isnt as pink either

im running out of time before i need the wig to be ready for Otakon... HELP!!!
