Roving dreads - how to wash

i have a set of roving dreads that i have had for a while, and i was wondering whats the best way to wash them. i havent installed them yet as i want to wash them before i put them in.
can any of you help me with this?

Carefully!

Dunk them in hot water, re roll them and leave them to dry. If you haven't worn them, why do you need to wash them? Maybe just an airing would do?

oh right! I still wouldn't advise more than dipping then in hot, slighly sopay water, re rolling and drying :)
