Rhaeniel style : Help wanted ^^
Well,
I'm in love with the Rhaeniel'hair :
Crocheted AND felted?
Crocheted and washmachine?
Any tips?
When I crochet some colinette point 5 it don't exactly come this way, it's more like braid than 'dread' ...
Thank you grrrl !

Yes, indeedy! ^_______^
Thank you.
Although, I wrap some sections as well, adds more texture. I also use many different natural yarns, not just colinette.

I tried this with straight Point 5 and mine came out looking like crap; you, Rhaeniel, have the magic touch!Monique_marion_may wrote:Braid the wool, put them in the washing machine to felt = Done!

I think I'm getting it now! Will post results.VixenSingsBlack wrote:I tried this with straight Point 5 and mine came out looking like crap; you, Rhaeniel, have the magic touch!Monique_marion_may wrote:Braid the wool, put them in the washing machine to felt = Done!
1 Stagger the thick parts so no just-thin parts get braided. (if using point zero, point five)
2 Do not braid too tightly
3 Do not over felt in washing machine, use a very light cycle with HOT water.

Would it be possible to get the same effect by boiling instead of using the washing machine?
And does Jesus like my hair?
I don't think he f*cking cares!

No idea, sketti.
Vsb, I do mine on a 40 degree wash at high spin. It's the agitation that felts them, not just heat.
also, I braid quite tightly.

The colors are a bit more mad than yours (Paintbox and Magenta Point 5 by Colinette) but I think they look quite good.

Yeah, you can see they're not as tightly braided and not tightly felted either. I think part of the texture of mine is due to being so tightly felted (or 'fulled' as machine 'felting' should technically be called)mine are pretty hard and dense.

Oh, I'm sorry but they're painful to look at. Perhaps stick to one maybe 2 colours, there's too much going on in those.

They feel good and felted. I guess I just can't master your technique! When I put them on a longer/harsher cycle they come out all wonky, even when I was braiding tighter. I'll mark it up to Rhaeniel magic and keep trying.Rhaeniel wrote:Yeah, you can see they're not as tightly braided and not tightly felted either. Well I love 'em. Some extreme brightness is just what I need after the bad news I got yesterday.DreadstarMonstar wrote:Oh, I'm sorry but they're painful to look at. Perhaps stick to one maybe 2 colours, there's too much going on in those.
PS the flash doesn't help with the uber brightness!!

Mine are kinky, I just pull them straight while they're still damp and then leave them to dry hanging over a radiator hangy thing. They do have kinks, but that just makes them more interesting.
