Collinette NEWB - First install.

Post by saramurphy » Wed Nov 10, 2010 7:12 pm

Hey all,
i just recieved 5 skeins of one zero in the post and am getting ready to do my first install of collinette ever.
Obviously its very thin compared to even skinny tapered synthetic dreads which i make, so any tips on installing?
Im doing a full head,
Will i have enough?
Any methods on cutting / lengths? i want them about 16" long at the back.
Hot long does it take?
Am i best getting a mate to help or what?

Any answers are appreciated and ESPECIALLY pictures of full head collinette installs!!!!!

Thanks you xxx

I did mine last year, using 2, 3 or 4 strand of wool for each section. I started at the back & made the sections a lot smaller than if I was using dreads. I had half a head of hair & it took me 8 hours over 2 days.

I loved it, I ended up knotting it on the back of my head. It was SUPER warm & rather moulty, so expect to find bits of wool everywhere.

Gracey (woolhairhabit) was my inspiration, after seeing her pics of one zero installed I had to try it myself.

these are what inspired mine:

I think I put four strands together at once and knotted them in the middle... and I used two full skeins with about... 60 sections? 70 sections? I did it by myself.

I'm going to reuse them again this Christmas, but I'm going multi-texture with some wool roving too. I especially loved my fringe... not that that has anything to do with the colinette!

Yeah, but you used point 5 Emily, which is thicker than one zero.

is ok :D

after seeing this I'm tempted to colinette up again, but I think I'll use point 5 AND one zero. Oooh, such a rebel
