First naturals... I need advice.

Post by Elstaro » Sun Apr 18, 2010 6:53 pm

I decided to give natural style dreads a go for the dread swap Im not sure how to feel about them Ive backcombed, palm rolled, and sealed the hell out of them but they still feel super soft and um squishy if that makes sence and the ends I cant seem to get to look right the more I mess with them the shorter they get. Im really tempted to just twist them up and steam them so and advice would be very appreciated

most people just leave the ends loose. I don't make em myself, but I own some from PMT - she has a tute on here as does the Souk

mine are soft & squishy - like roving, but have lose, wispy ends.

not the greatest pic of the ends, but you can kinda get the idea.

Both of my sets of naturals have loose ends and are squishy. I think yours look great and if I were your swap partner, I'd be very pleased to get them :)

I think they are lovely. Are you steaming or boiling them? Maybe a bit more palm rolling? From what I've read, people have better luck with just pouring boiling water over them. If I were your trade partner, I would be ecstatic to receive them as they are!

Can I just say, I love those colours! :)

On topic, I haven't had natural dreads myself, but I think yours look lovely.

I LOVE them!

I always fuss over my natural ends and usually end up gently twisting and dousing them in hot water and letting them just do their thing!
