2nd attempt at dreads.. (2 years later :/ )*Update 06/05/10*

Post by Vex88 » Tue Apr 13, 2010 7:45 pm

Hey there..

Have caught the fake hair bug again and have started to make some dreads, hopefully for me to wear at download. The two i've made so far turned out a bit skinnier than I was hoping but that's not too bad. They seem awful fuzzy but I know some people cut the wee pokie bits off. Feedback would be appreciated.. on the general look/how to make them better or whatever.
Thanks :)

**Update 17/04/10**

I trawled the net for some vids on backcombing and came across a great one by Rivet Licker :) so i've tried it out and I think my dreads are improving :) Though they're still a bit uneven sometimes.. but i'll keep working on it....

The blue black dreads are the first ones I did... the cobalt blue ones are the ones I did after the tut... can anyone see a difference ??

*Update 06/05/10*

Have made a few more, 20 odd in total and sometimes I think im getting better then sometimes I don't :/ lol. Have started making my dreads thicker and I think thats helping.

the single ones are the most recent dreads, the ones in bundles were made first. I'm not sure if the black blue colour goes so I might not use them. Got a packet of buy hairs royal blue to try out and its a bit shiny so didnt quite feel the same to work with as the grass green/cobalt blue.

the last pic is to show the difference between the thinnest dread and the thickest... would it look silly to wear them together in a set? and if not how would I go about it? mix thick and thin, have thin at the front or hide thin at bottom?

Think i'll stick with thicker dreads now... though im only getting about 4-6 dreads a pack :/
oh, and the candy cane one was very hard to backcomb as the two colours were different textures, don't think i'll do anymore with royal blue.

Nice colours :)

More backcombing though.

When twisting, use your thumbs to smooth the frizzies down. You won't get them completely gone, but it'll be a lot nicer.

Possible improvement? I say definite improvement! I put that video out there so people at least can learn the basis, and it has had many success stories, yours is the next!
Keep on making them!
